I have no idea if that “■■” is permanent or merely obscuring the final word until we get closer to the release, but an announcement teaser – which boasts the dubious honour of having one of the most disturbing cinematic openings I’ve ever seen – says it’s currently slated for Q4 2025, so it may be a while yet until we know more.

Devolver has announced Forestrike, a “tactical kung-fu fighter” from the developer of Olija.
Players will take the role of martial artist Yu who’s blessed with the Foresight, which allows him to perceive battles in his mind ahead of time to find a winning sequence, before enacting the movements in reality.
Progression is through a roguelike game loop, providing unique encounters each run for players to perceive in advance.

Nintendo has announced a new Pikmin game, but no – it’s not Pikmin 5.
Instead, Japanese Pikmin fans can enjoy Pikmin Counting, a web-based edutainment game where you count from 1 to 100 using Nintendo’s colourful garden characters. (It’s primarily designed for young kids.)
Pikmin Counting is one of several mini-games available on Nintendo’s Japanese website Pikmin Garden, a hub of information on the series with regular news updates of things going on in mobile game Pikmin Bloom, quizzes, and cute Pikmin wallpaper.

England superstar Jude Bellingham makes the box art of EA Sports FC this year.
Fresh from unpacking his bags after England’s attempt at glory in the Euros, Bellingham was announced today as having taken the coveted cover slot.
It’s not a huge surprise. Bellingham also features on the EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Edition cover, alongside football/product placement legend David Beckham and Spanish star Aitana Bonmatí. Zinedine Zidane and Gianluigi Buffon also appear.

Five couples got engaged at this summer’s Pokémon Go Fest, some of whom met through playing the popular smartphone game.
The proposals took place at the event’s big weekend in Madrid – the year’s main European meetup for Pokémon Go fans, which Eurogamer recently attended. Happily, all players who popped the question received a ‘yes’.
Pokémon Go developer Niantic asked fans ahead of time if any couples were planning to get engaged at the event, after hearing reports of players getting down on one knee at previous Go Fests.

UPDATE 3.10pm UK: GAME will end its GAME Wallet functionality on 21st August, Eurogamer has learned.
According to an internal memo seen by Eurogamer, the ability to add store credit and gift cards to your virtual GAME Wallet will be switched off next month.
In a week’s time, on 18th July, GAME Wallet customers will no longer be able to add new funds or gift cards. After 21st August, all GAME Wallet accounts will be closed.
“It is strongly urged that customers spend all their credit they have in their GAME Wallet account on purchases at GAME.co.uk prior to the closure date,” the memo states.

GAME will no longer accept in-store pre-orders for upcoming games, Eurogamer can confirm. The latest change to hit the brand will see GAME end in-store pre-orders in a matter of weeks.
As of 1st August, no new in-store pre-orders will be accepted and all existing pre-orders will be refunded for products set to be released after 31st January 2025.
Any existing pre-order or deposit for a product set to be launched before the end of January 2025 will still be honoured. There’s no change to online pre-orders.
